At the heart of the village
Our village hall was originally known as the Georgeham Parish Institute. Opening in 1926, it was set up as an alternative social venue for villagers, away from the wicked allure of the two public houses.
It remained known as the Institute until after World War II, at which point it became the Parish Hall, and continued to host dances, whist drives, film shows, concerts, parties, youth clubs and much more.
The first committee meeting was held in January 1926 and, nearly a century later, there is another committee working to look after the hall for the good of the community it serves.
